VOLUNTEERS Due to the details involved in providing you with a quality program, about 10 to 20 volunteers are needed from the troops attending. Please agree to provide at least one volunteer from your unit to work a half-day or full day. About half the volunteers will be Gatekeepers, one at each of the stations, helping with the transitions between classes. The other half may work at the stations, like the Field Study stations, where a few more hands are needed in addition to the trained instructors. We assume that you will quickly display the scout spirit needed to help us fill these volunteer slots. If we do not have enough volunteers, we will be forced to make each troop provide a volunteer in order to attend. When your troop offers a volunteer, let us know your preference, Gatekeeper or the Station Worker, and we’ll fill the slots that way, first-come, first serve. ***************************************************************************************** Group leader: All requirements will be covered during the weekend. There may be a simple prerequisite; we'll let you as soon as our plant scientists finish laying out the stations. Scouts who complete all stations and turn in a properly completed blue card will receive signed blue cards back on Sat! The cost is $15 per participant (all youth & all adults), which covers all activities, a commemorative patch, dinner Saturday night, and the campfire. Camping costs are extra and depend on selected site. Scouts are encouraged to attend for the full weekend, but pre-registered daytrippers will be accepted. Please turn in completed Blue Cards for each scout at check-in.

Sunday Morning Bonus
A new tradition: before your unit heads home, scouts and adults alike should participate in a White (beginner) level orienteering course. About a mile in length, with about 10 controls to find, it's a fun way to end the weekend (and pass a requirement). Prizes for the top finishers. Have your own competition within your unit, or challenge another unit to see who has the scouts with the best map-reading skills. |
